Ham Radio Technician Course

9AM to 1:0PM, Saturday February 1, 2025

Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) is offering an entry level Ham Radio Technician Course for all residents age 12 or older. This one-day class ends with the ham radio license test. A license is required by the FCC to operate ham radio.

Why should you learn ham radio? Ham radio allows you to communicate from the top of a mountain, your home, or from your car. All without relying on the internet or a cell phone network. You can take ham radio with you wherevey you go!

In times of disaster, when regular communications channels fail, ham radio is an alternate way to share and get information. Communicate with other hams using your voice and a microphone, interface a radio with your computer or tablet to send data, text or images.
