In 2015 PNEC held its first emergency preparedness fair at Old Poway Park, and it is now an annual event. This is a wonderful opportunity to come out and learn about emergency preparedness from a variety of vendors and local organizations focused on preparedness.

PNEC hosts community meetings covering a variety of topics related to emergency preparedness and fire safety. These open meetings are held at Poway’s Council Chambers.
Our next community meeting is April, March 19th at 6:30pm. The Poway Sheriffs Office will be presenting on community safety.

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign that promotes law enforcement and community partnership and neighborhood camaraderie. This event is held the first Tuesday of August.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Poway Station hosts the event locally. PNEC participates with a booth providing participants educational material on emergency and disaster preparedness.
National Night Out will be held on Tuesday August 1st, 2023.
Field Day is an annual amateur radio exercise, open to the public, which encourages emergency communications preparedness among amateur radio operators. It is held across the United States with over 30,000 operators participating each year. Locally, Field day is hosted by the Poway Amateur Radio Society on the fourth full weekend of June at Lake Poway. PNEC’s ham radio operators are actively involved in this exercise and provide public displays and information about ham radio. PNEC regularly participates in field day by providing disaster and emergency preparedness information.
Field Day will be held June 24th and 25th, 2023.
PNEC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit comprised of all volunteers and no revenue streams. PNEC is funded by grants and donations and welcomes financial contributions to help support and cover costs related to program development and outreach activities.
