5th Annual Poway Emergency Survival Fair – Saturday, May 11, 2019
May 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 pm
5th Annual Poway Emergency Survival Fair
Saturday, May 11, 9 AM–1 PM Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road, Poway
Meet city employees responsible for your safety. Visit booths staffed by organizations that provide emergency planning and assistance to Poway residents. Talk to neighbors who volunteer for the Poway Amateur Communications Team (PACT), who under a complete power and communication blackout may be your only contact for emergency information. Learn about diverse organizations that can assist families in the development of unique survival plans, such as a strategy when there are mandatory evacuations. This fair is a community driven event to connect residents with public and private organizations to better prepare our community for any emergency.
Organizations participating in the fair are donating emergency preparedness items for free drawings throughout the fair. PACT will be conducting a simulated emergency radio exercise and will be available to explain the amateur radio net. The Emergency Survival Fair is sponsored by the nonprofit Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC), which works to complement the City of Poway Emergency Operations Plan through a grass roots communication network of neighbors.
The City of Poway will be represented by its Community Emergency Response Team and its Safety Services Department, which consists of Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Emergency Medical Services and Law Enforcement Services. Also with booths at the fair include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Burn Institute, Trauma Intervention Program, Palomar Amateur Radio Club, SD Crime Prevention, Senior Volunteer Patrol/YANA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, SDG&E, Red Cross, Animal Rescue Reserve, Poway Fire Safe Council, SD County District Attorney’s Victims Assistance Program and Fraud Division and Be Ready emergency supplies.
