Poway Emergency Communications Workshop – September 14

Poway Emergency Communications Workshop Scheduled

September is National Preparedness Month

A workshop on emergency communications has been set for 7 pm Thursday, Sept. 14, in Poway City Council Chambers on Civic Center Drive. Presented by the Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC), it will focus on obtaining life saving information during any emergency and how to best share it with neighbors.  Learn who your Neighborhood Emergency Coordinator is in Poway, as well as your Neighborhood Ham Radio Operator. Meet them, get to know each other and decide together how you will communicate during an emergency.

Also at the workshop, learn about and prepare to take part in a Poway city-wide “Emergency Communications Drill” in November.  This is critically important, according to PNEC President Terri Sorensen.  “If we don’t try our system we won’t know what works and what doesn’t till it is too late.  Be a part of the solution, so we can fix the problems,” she asked.

The nonprofit PNEC works to complement the City of Poway Emergency Operations Plan through a grass roots communication network of neighbors. For more information on PNEC, please visit http://powaynec.com.
